Chinese hair cut

Well I must say I'm kind of disappointed I don't have a camera to show you photo's, I have a before shot because I went out with friends last Sat but I don't have an after shot so you'll just have to wait and see!
So this pic on the right is the before shot, see my lovely long curly hair? I got about SIX inches cut off!!! Crazy crazy crazy !?! This thought was running through my head after the hair dresser tried blow-drying my hair to show me it wouldn't be too short when dry, I told him before he started 'I have crazy curly hair, if you don't know how to cut curly hair please just give me a trim, if you know what you are doing then I'm open to suggestions.' So he got out his book and showed me this beautiful girl with curly hair that came to just below her shoulders and said 'I think this will work well for you' hmmm so I thought about it and decided why not, it's not every day you have your first Chinese hair cut! And now I leave you in suspense waiting til the next time you see me, I'll let you decide if you think it was worth the risk! hehehe!

mmm yummy pancakes

So here I am back again this time to bring to you stories of cooking in a apartment with a stove top and microwave! And I know from other friends here that having a microwave is a big bonus!

Anyway today's stove top recipe is:
Perfect Plain Pancakes

Ingredients
1 cup (150g) self raising flour
1 egg
1 cup (250ml) milk
1 tablespoon butter
Caster sugar
Lemons

Directions: Sift the flour into a bowl and make a well in the centre. Break the egg into the well, gradually stirring in the flour. Slowly add half the milk and stir until all the flour is absorbed.
Continue beating until bubbles rise then stir in the rest of the milk gradually. If possible, stand batter aside for at least half an hour.
Take a small piece of butter and melt in a frying pan, then pour it out and wipe the pan out with kitchen paper towel. Put in another piece of butter and when it has melted pour in a little of the batter and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Turn with a spatula.
When cooked on both sides, slip pancake onto a piece of paper, sprinkle with caster sugar and roll up. Continue in the same way until all the batter is used.
Serve hot accompanied by lemon wedges or sprinkle lemon juice over pancakes.

I'd love to hear from people if they have any good microwave and/or stove top recipes! I like to experiment and try cooking new things and currently I'm staying with a friend who is keen to try eating new things so it works well! (^o^)
